when doing custom exhaust on my E36 and my E30 I opted for a single 3" collector at the headers straight back to a supertrapp, with the adjustable plates I could add or remove back pressure on dyno for fine tuning. Several advantages here, the obvious one is the weight savings, even more obvious is the time savings of half the build time and furthermore old school supertrapps are just awesome.

Thanks for the input. Turned out the second SES was actually thermostat related so had to fix that, plus now the O2 sensors are supposedly really really in the right place.. Work got in the way today so I'll know how it runs tomorrow.

I did consider a single 3" pipe but since these guys didn't build it that way, I did not want to be the guinea pig.
