That Daytona Prototype isn't the one Henry Gilbert drives! I saw that beautiful and new DP at Homestead a few weeks, and was drooling like a pig in heat. Not that I could ever drive one well, but what a beautiful car! Going to Daytona in December with HOD, and nervous as all get out to be honest. See you there, my first time at Daytona so you will not be only nervous driver out there. Just hope I don't hold up the pros my first few times around. |

The only dangerous spot (other than the areas where you are going faster than any other track) that caught me off guard, is if you hug the inside coming up to turn 1 you can end up (where I was) Braking across the Painted part which was very unsettling as the traction on the port side was significatly different than on the starboard....It got very hairy. The Beemer ahead of me is crossing where the paint has been removed. Much smarter.....
![]() A great pointer was also to tip your left side mirror up a bit. That way you can see back arround the Banked curve farther (A Viper, GT3, 997 Turbo can be on you before you exit even though they are half the bank behind you to start. The advanced warning is important. I used the inside and right mirrors on the flats and the left on the banks. Until you are compfy grid near the back. I'm up! Aside from the good news as in 2.29's on Sebring with PCA just now I also pulled this off:
First spin in the track car. Last session and last laps of the weekend with focus fading away. Normally I can feel these coming, but this one caught me pants down. This is my nemesis turn 5 where people typically gain on me so I am trying to go full throttle earlier. I think I just found too early. Normally I don't push it on the last session. Note to self: don't. Edit: I am also off my line.. That said, I think my counter steering kept me off the wall. All is good, and I will be back to kick your ass turn five. JJ, this shouldn't be in the Wall of Shame - we all spin from time to time. However.... 2.29's??? You're flying brother! Great job

JJ, no problem. Booboo's happen, keeping it out of the wall is what counts.
My latest booboo: My outlap. FF to 1:00. Flat left front tire, but also others said T10 eas very slick the first lap. Definitively no drivers' error. I only drive FLATOUT. http://www.youtube.co... |

JJ, this shouldn't be in the Wall of Shame - we all spin from time to time. However.... 2.29's??? You're flying brother! Great job Thanks bro, but there's no shame in being on the wall of shame. I see it as the wall of learning the hard (and sometimes expensive) way. ![]() As for the 2.29's I have lightened up the car and driver and improved my driving: http://www.trackweeke... |

Too much exit Power at Turn 10 Sebring Raceway
Too much power on turn exit while still rotating car direction to left. And guess what, turn friction plus acceleration friction exceeded tire limit. Was able to save it by quickly reducing turn pressure and slightly reducing acceleration and still manage good turn 11 entrance. Wow, this is Fun! |

It's more the shuffle steer and late track out then early power application IMHO.
