Last years' personal best was a 2:199 in 35F weather.
This year personal best 2:189 shaved Toyo RA1's in 75F weather. The track was much faster the next day with only 44F but I ran slower tires, new unshaved Toyo RA1's rear only, but my lap could have been 2:184 without traffic, so with 44F and good tires I think a 2:17 can be done with the same car. Maybe one day.... I will try again at the www.48hoursatsebring.com weekend next week. http://www.youtube.co... and just another busy fun session: http://www.youtube.co... |

Very nice drive, smooth, good lines. Where did you learn to drive like that?
We'll have to work on getting you to shave off some more time. ![]() |

I learned with instructors in DE like most of us here.
Started in 2003 with a bone stock '01 Mustang GT, still have it if someone wants it: (www.trakcar.com), bought a 2007 GT3 (www.trakcar.com/porsche) then a GT3RS last year: www.trakcar.com/GT3RS Just figured it out, mosty scared = brake, not scared = gas. Once down to 2:22's and 23's in the GT3 I could not improve on my own by just stealing data out of my buddies cars. So after owning the RS for 6 months I hired David Tuaty Nov '10 and Chris Hall Nov '11 both found me a second, well they found more but I could execute about a second once I implemented their coaching in my rythm. IMHO I should have hired coaches sooner. Anyone who has been signed off solo and has driven for more then a year should. Cheaper then mods on you car. If you mod your car (brakes excl) before you hire a coach you are investing in the wrong place. I know I leave a lot of reserve and could anticipate better, kinda like permanent endurance driving. Hitting the wall is not an option :-). I spun once in 9 years of DE (T10 HMS, hit nothing) that was enough ;-) Here is another busy session: http://www.youtube.co... TRAKCAR,
I hope I didn't offend you in anyway, you drive very well also. I was actually referring to Michael's video, and the joke is that he learned at our racing school (Sports Car Driving Experience). I personally took him around Sebring once to show him a few things a few months back. That's why I asked where he learned to drive . You've had good coaches, Chris has worked with us for many years and is a great coach. I was at Winterfest also, but only ran the Thursday 6 hour enduro. Keep up the good driving. |
