Under the supervision of the Solo Chair Henry Gilbert, and the valuable help of Krys Dean, a group of well known National Level Autocrossers have teamed up to resurrect the Solo Program in South Florida.
The first event of the year will be announced. in the mean time there is a brand new forum developed by Krys, were we can post suggestion and ideas that can help to make this project a better and long lasting reality.

Everybody welcome!!!

This SOLO program will be run by the same friendly faces you have enjoyed dealing with over the past few years at the Hooked on Driving events. You will enjoy coming to these SCCA SOLO programs as there will be no animosity or negative behavior allowed by the staff. We promise to make your day a fun filled, hassle free experience. We are putting these events on as VOLUNTEERS, and no one is getting rich or paid from the proceeds. Come and help us make these events the talk of the town. Invite your friends to come out and watch or volunteer to man a corner.
We look forward to seen you at our next event. smile

Really?? You mean the money you make does not go back to Florida region SCCA? And can end up being used by the Road Racers instead of the SOLO community?

Considering that's what happened years ago, I wish you luck in this new endeavor.

Times have changed Carl...drop your guard and join the real fun like others are doing; events without verbal abuse and unsafe situations.

Don't fight it , what other options do you have ???

You are welcome to our events

Andres,

I was at the single event they held last year. I had no issues with the event, it was a typical standard SCCA autocross.

If you think times have changed, good luck with that. You still have the same "old guard" running SCCA Florida region. And remember, if it had not been for people like me guarding autocross, there would have been none in South Florida since 1998 (when SCCA, SFSCA and ERSCC held events).

I very much welcome SCCA Florida Region back into the mix. We need more autocross clubs that cater to all cars (not like some clubs that cater towards certain brands of vehicles). I actually don't want it to be a "one-shot" deal, or worse, a repeat of the SCCA Road Racers taking the money from the autocrossers and leaving autocrossers with no events. After all, as SCCA member [which you must be to run autocross or pay for the "weekend" membership], we want SCCA to put on autocrosses. That's why we pay our dues, right?

As to options, I guess SCCA Florida region has none. That's because they will lose funding from National SCCA if they don't hold at least one event per year and call it "a solo program".

Again, I very much welcome SCCA Florida Region, once again, back into the SOLO Program.

It should be great FUN, everyone should come out and bring their track car, street car, mom's car. dad's car, hell bring your Dad; any car and help hone your skills. Randy Pobst, TC Kline, and Jeff Altenberg are just a couple of autocrossers who took their skiils to the racetrack. It is not often that a road racer can successfully autocross. And that is my challange here.......if you are a track junkie, come out a test your skills at a national level autocross event..!
