I apologize for skipping June’s newsletter, but I promise to make it up with this one. The dog days of Summer are upon us. Some of us choose to take a couple of months off from track events during the hot Summer months, while others just can’t stay away. I have some very exciting news for everyone, including those of you that have never done a track event (in our next issue). As we continue to work closely with all the major motorsports clubs and shops here in FL we are able to bring to our members great discounts and offers on track events, tires, parts, and services, as well as actual track-event give-aways, exclusive to TrackWeekend members.
Featured Event for JulyA night of high-performance driving at Homestead Speedway with PCA & TrackWeekend.com
This event happens once a year, so if you’ve never driven Homestead at night, this is a must-attend event for you. The Porsche Club of America (Gold Coast Region) is hosting this awesome event and encouraging drivers to come out for a night you won’t soon forget. The event is open to all car makes and models. Gates open at noon and we will be there cooking-out with the guys and gals of PCA, so come out and meet some of the other wacky and friendly personalities that make up this great sport. Driving continues through the day and well into the night. All TW organizers will be on-hand to meet anyone who hasn’t yet come out to an event and answer any questions. There will be a free heel-and-toe clinic running all day, for those of us that could use a little more smoothness in downshifting (and refuse to trade our stick-shifts for paddles). Novice drivers are welcomed and will be able to drive with an instructor all the way until dusk. The night portion is restricted to solo (advanced) drivers and instructors. There’s a good reason for this: Have you ever tried to drive into a pitch-black corner at 100+ MPH? This event will sell-out quickly, so be sure to register soon as spots are limited. Registration and event info here:
http://www.trackweekend.com/calendar/11957170Your Car on the Header of TrackWeekend.comMany of you have seen the different cars we’ve featured on the header of TW and noticed that they are all TW member rides. I know we’d all like to see our prized possessions gracing the header of TW, so here’s how those pictures are determined: 1. Must be a member of TW. 2. Picture should be of your ride on the track, preferably at speed. 3. Have visited TW within a week (we usually go down the list of recent visitors and pick one of them).
TW DecalsAfter many requests from members for TW logos and decals for their cars, we will soon be giving them away at events for those of you that RSVP to the events, and of course, those of you that request them.
Featured events coming up…We have a great line up of featured events for the next several months. Some of the details are going to be a surprise, but suffice it to say, you won’t want to miss these events. In August: ERME at Homestead. ERME will be offering the biggest discount of the year exclusive to TW members. September – Sebring with PBOC and in benefit of Kids Racing for Life (this event will change you). Late September – Autocross school #2 presented by TLM. The first one was a complete success, this one will be even better!
We have many great surprises for you soon! Special thanks to all our members who keep spreading the word about TW – little to no advertising and we’re almost at 500 members! This growing community would not have happened without your help. Of course, as track addicts, we’d like to see our friends addicted too! If any of you would like to take a more active part with us and become an assistant organizer, please contact me.
*By the way, if you are reading this message on TW and didn’t see it in your inbox, there’s a good chance it ended up in your “junk” folder. Be sure to add us to your “safe senders” list so you won’t miss any of our future updates.
Until next time, drive safely and keep the shiny side up,
Carlos A. Espitia & The TW Team
